The Loughs Agency

Fish habitat in the River Foyle was examined during a visit to The Loughs Agency.  Students learned about the important role that the Loughs Agency play in maintainng our rivers and fish.

Seagate

As well as learning about one of the world's leading producers of hard disc drives and the use of nano technology, students had fun dressing up in clean room suits and got a taste of manufacturing in Seagate.

City of Derry Airport Fire Service

Firefighting and aeroplanes was the theme for a visit to the City of Derry Airport.  Students got a runway side seat to see one of the new BMI Stansted to Derry flights landing with a special focus on fire hazards on board areoplanes.

Millennium Forum

Students were treated to a birdseye view on performance at the Millennium Forum before getting a VIP tour to see areas that are closed to the general public.

E+I Engineering

For students interested in engineering, it was a fascinating visit to see a local company working at a global level, especially when it's founder is a former student!

Allstate Northern Ireland

Careers  in Technology was the topic of the day at Allstate.  Students were introduced to the 'Follow the sun' concept of working, where the working day never ends for the company who work globally.

ARDNASHEE COLLEGE AT FOYLE PORT


  

Students from Ardnashee College got to grips with work at the port and their maritime heritage hearing about the importance of the port.  Foyle Port currently handles approximately 2 million tonnes of cargo per annum and supports arround 1,000 jobs making it a vital component of industry in the North West.

Thornnhill Science Fair
